75 years ago today

75 years ago today the Warsaw Ghetto uprising began.  The Jews fought to save their lives.

Today, we have American citizens marching with the NAZI flag, while others damn the anti-fascist movements (lumped together as "Anti-Fa").  All our fathers, grandfathers, uncles, etc., etc., etc. who fought Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, etc., were ANTI-FA.  All the partisans, who fought against the Fascists were ANTI-FA.

Today we have all sorts of folks who either deny The Holocaust, or are, in some way, attempting to rehabilitate Hitler.  Many claim to be "TRUE AMERICANS"   ----   they are not.  They reject the spirit of our USA, they reject our embrace of the downtrodden, they reject the concept of free Public Education.  They have forgotten all the values that made America great.  In addition they have lost the will to keep America great.  They spout slogans but will not spend a dime on infrastructure (unless it's a damned wall) while our roads and bridges crumble.

We don't need more Norwegians  --  we need AMERICANS.

Roswell Rudd

I remember writing some months ago that I drank with Roswell Rudd and his "old lady" years ago in the old 55  --  a dive bar owned by Brad Cunningham.  Mr. Rudd was then playing at Nicks with Wilbur DeParis  --  playing Dixieland to keep body and soul together.  He was very frustrated, wanting to move forward.  After many years he did, playing all sorts of music  --  including a lot of very avant-garde Jazz.  He received a lot of critical acclaim.

He died recently.  Nice obit in thr N.Y. Times, as befitting a master musician.  His like will be missed.  A really good guy, a fine musician  --  and an old drinking buddy from a time long ago and far away.  All blessings on Mr. Rudd and his family from a big fan.
