Vatican distances itself from comments on Jews

So, now The Vatican doesn't quite agree with statements by "the papal preacher". It seems he compared all this furor over something as normal (for The Church) as pedophilia with the abuse faced by Jews for so many years.

The fact the Jews were unjustly targeted for many centuries, were subjected to violent abuse by The Church, were expelled, killed, forced to convert, by this same Godless Church (RC) never seemed to enter the little, totally out of touch mind of "the papal preacher".

As this entire sordid affair unfolds I'm constantly amazed at how totally out of touch this supposed "universal" church really is. Having The Pope resign is not enough -- that criminal organization needs a total overhaul. It needs to pay taxes, and have most of its property taken by civil authorities.

Look at The Holy Roman Catholic Church if you want to see what years of unbridled religious power means.

We need MORE separation of church and state.

VATICAN CITY – The Vatican spokesman is officially distancing itself from Good Friday remarks by the papal preacher, who likened accusations against the pope in the clergy sex abuse cover-up scandals to collective violence against Jews.

The Rev. Federico Lombardi contacted The Associated Press in Rome to say such parallelism can lead to misunderstandings. He said Father Raniero Cantalamessa's remarks in a homily at a service presided over by Pope Benedict XVI in St. Peter's Basilica is not the official position of the church. Amid criticism from Jewish leaders and abuse victims' groups, Lombardi said Cantalamessa was not speaking as a Vatican official.
