straws and camels backs

The "December Compromise" of (formerly) Democratic President Barack Obama is just another "straw". At this point, this "Camel's" back is just about broken.

I'm really upset. Really, really, upset.

We who claim to be "progressive" need a new party. This "two party" system has devolved into the far right and the still very right, but not quite as bad.

I do not think I can deal with this stuff any longer. What is the sense of politics, or for that matter economics, when the "leaders" just go ahead and do any damn thing they please -- without any concern for their Citizens or even the well being of the Nation?

Then Mr. Obama SCOLDS his base because we are unhappy with the fact he didn't even seem to try.

He seems to UNDERSTAND what the birthers, Tea Baggers, Republicans, Right-Wing-Christians, seem to say -- BUT, if the base complains -- he tosses us all aside.

Assange has been arrested -- we seem to be trying to get our hands on him. In addition, the response to Wikileaks has been so over the top that I really can't understand it.

Is this the "transparency" CANDIDATE Obama promised us? Keep all Bush laws in place, keep our "secret" prisons open? Keep the apparatus of state secrecy and repression in place?

Now it's time to ask -- seriously -- WHO RUNS THIS PLACE? WHO REALLY RUNS THIS PLACE?

Now, for a couple of tid-bits from "Some Assembly Required":

Proverb: Two wrongs do not make a right. If raising taxes is wrong and increasing the budget is wrong, then most assuredly the December Compromise is wrong. Anybody remember why we're waist deep in the Big Muddy?

On Message: Big Sister will be there, at the Walmart checkout, hanging out in the mall, watching you register at the hotel, blasting security reminders at you from ever-present TV screens. Ubiquitous, like Santa. Wait for the Two Minutes Hate.

Fair Taxation? Federal taxes are the lowest in 60 years, which gives you a pretty good idea of why America’s long-term debt ratios are a big problem. Also tells you how serious the Republicans are. If the taxes reverted to somewhere near their historical mean, the deficit problem would be solved at a stroke.
