The last three "musical interludes" I've posted include the late Tommy Turrentine on trumpet. As I've seen in comments -- "that man could PLAY!".
Yes, he could. There was a time I heard him, along with his brother Stanley, at Slugs in the lower east side of Manhattan. Why he has been ignored, or even forgotten, I'll never know. Then again, he was almost always, "the other Turrentine".
Of course, he's far from alone. A lot of GREAT players have been either ignored, or forgotten. I think it's amazing how many YouTube songs have 600, 1200, or 5200, views. Great music at your fingertips -- just sitting there.
