Yep, they still suck! A-Rod can't seem to get a hit - any hit - with men on base. Next at bat - double.
Swisher is mired in a terrible slump. Jeter is in freefall. Tex can't get arrested - well, he could - and most likely will if he doesn't start hitting. Granderson is homerun or strikeout, with too few homeruns.
No Gardner. No Mo. No Robertson. Soriano is a good closer IF you are ahead two or three runs.
Kuroda seems corroded. Freddy Garcia hasn't hit his stride. The opposition has. They hit everything he throws. Cano is hitting -- EXCEPT when there are men in scoring position.
About Swisher, he seems to be far more aggressive. Fewer walks, lower on base percentage. He is going away from his strengths. It's almost as if he WANTS to go elsewhere next year.
And -- the fans, those fanatics, the ones who couldn't wait for Posada to retire -- now they wish he was back. Another case of not appreciating what you have until it's gone.
Andrew Jones seems lost -- no, that's not true, he usually seems like he doesn't give a damn. In some ways I don't blame him - but, I wish he would pretend once in a while.
It almost seems as if Ibanez is the only one who is not some sort of Prima Donna. He seems determined and workmanlike. I think you need players like that to go along with the big stars.
Martin got two hits Monday -- 2 for 4, bringing his average UP to .181 -- hooray, hooray.
(Can you tell I'm a bit upset?)
