More on football

Watching "The Weather Channel" a while ago - just to find out what's in store for our little corner of North Texas in the next few days, when I heard that HEAT RELATED FOOTBALL DEATHS have tripled in the last 15 years.

Now, I know a lot of coaches are sadistic, stupid, individuals  --  but, awareness of heat related problems is now at an all time high.  They SAY they now take more precautions.  At the same time DEATHS HAVE INCREASED BY 300%.

That's another reason we MUST eliminate football practice in the hottest part of the year  --  in addition to de-emphasizing football itself.

I say another because the long term effects of getting hit, or hitting  other folks time after time are just becoming clear.

When I was in college, back in the 1950's, we would say football players were "punchy"  --  we were right.

It's a terrible "sport", and has gotten worse over the years.
