I really haven't followed every twist and turn of the Wikileaks debacle -- except to note the US Government is acting like they are finally admitting this IS a Police State. Such over reaction simply because we have been embarrassed and exposed.

U.S. data security company Imperva says downloads of the attack program used to bombard websites with bogus requests for data have jumped to over 40,000, with thousands of new downloads reported overnight.

"It's definitely increasing," Imperva Web researcher Tal Be'ery said in a telephone interview from Israel.

The freely available software is a critical part of the campaign by "hacktivists" seeking to take revenge on sites they believe have betrayed WikiLeaks, the group that has outraged American officials by publishing hundreds of thousands of classified U.S. diplomatic cables and military intelligence reports.

So far, they have had an effect on those attacked.

This led me to think (A dangerous and sometimes unsuccessful undertaking): The right wing often brags about "having all the guns" (That's not quite true - but that is another story.).

It might not make a difference.

Our next war might be fought largely with computers. If you want to begin, promote, and maybe even win a revolution against a "Western Democracy" -- just destroy its computers and networks. If you can't break into gov't computers -- you can still bring civil society to a halt. Couple that with - say - folks not buying ANYTHING for three days - and there is a full blown problem.

So, when the right-wing threatens/brags about all their guns -- just tell them the next revolution will be fought with more than guns --------- just make sure you are out of range.
