Penn State

I went to Syracuse University. At that time one of our main rivals in football was Penn State. they always had a good team - even back in the 50's when Rip Engle was the coach.

Joe Paterno was one of his assistants, and took over after Engle retired.

For many, many, years there was not a HINT of scandal surrounding the Penn State program.

That has ended. Penn State, Joe Paterno, and the ENTIRE administration have become the face of organizational self protection. When confronted by EYEWITNESS evidence of CHILD RAPE, they protected the institution -- to HELL with the kids.

Remember the eyewitness event occurred in 2002. The culprit, the RAPIST was dismissed in 1999, after some sort of "event" in 1998. Still, this monster had the run of the campus -- or, at least the athletic department.

EVERYONE involved with ALL those events, the abuse, the coverups, the refusal to protect CHILDREN, MUST be prosecuted -- whether it be a criminal or civil matter.

At the very least lawsuits all around.

I'd like to see the football program at "Linebacker U." suspended for a minimum of FIVE years.

Maybe then, Penn State can get over having a "saint" as a football coach. Perhaps they can get back to being a UNIVERSITY -- not a football program with some minor academic impediments.

Shame on them all for trying to copy The Roman Catholic Church.

Since many of the "players" in this sordid drama appear to be Catholic -- can their reaction have been programmed by Roman Catholic training? Who knows?
