Apple, etc.

I just put up an article from "Alternet" about worker abuse in Cambodia. It begins by asking where the "Foxconn style outrage" is.

Of course, a large part of the outrage over Apple, its suppliers, and conditions for workers revolves around Apple and the image they portray ---- "cool", "hip", "green", "responsible", etc., etc., etc. Now, when you look at Apple, you do see good design. You also see something that you cannot fix. You see a totally closed system - which is NOT what "Woz" wanted.

On the other hand - the "evil" PC can be built from various and sundry parts, can be user serviced, and accepts different operating systems. Heck, we built the machines we are using now - and they are upgradeable.

Tell me again -- which is the "cool" set up? Which one is "user friendly"? Which one is more "responsible"?

Oh-gee-whiz, I forgot, Apple is no longer a computer company -- they are a music company that makes phones and gadgets.
