Who is this dude?

O.K. folks, in some circles the Dali Lama is a wise, human, HOLY MAN. He is a font of wisdom.

Why?

He is the head of a priestly class that OWNED Tibet. It was a feudal kingdom run by a bunch of priests who didn't do a damn thing. All the folks who lived there were his subjects.

How is this an admirable set-up? What kind of humanity, wisdom, is gained by having an entire nation toiling as virtual slaves just to keep you and your other priests alive?

We have folks who speak of "Freedom For Tibet" -- freedom for who?

Are the virtual serfs who live there any better off when working for a priestly class?

Are these supporters of good old Dali (HelloDali?) the same folks who speak of "the wisdom of the east"? The kind of "wisdom" that led to grinding poverty, and a willingness to accept the truly shitty end of the stick almost forever, based of an eastern religious version of "pie in the sky when you die, bye and bye.". How about the grand Hindu Caste System? Isn't that a wonderful way to keep folks slaves? Just keep them FOREVER "in their place". This is "great wisdom"? If it is -- for who?

How many of these wonderful people would want that life for their children? Or, are they the kind of "liberal" folks who wish our U.S. underclass were as pliant?

I suspect the current effect of religion, lack of education, realization the "American Dream" is becoming a sham, constant propaganda, and the reality of harsh jail sentences for once almost overlooked "offenses", is leading to the development of that sort of "servant class", the sort of "happy darkie" fiction so beloved of apologists for slavery and racism.

It seems our current corporate leaders want ALL of us to fall into that category.

Welcome to the future.
