"President Obama will visit the Gulf of Mexico in the next 48 hours to check in on the oil spill and the response, a White House official announced this morning.
The president's trip will have "a very small footprint."
The above was from Talking Points Memo.
As far as I'm concerned, Pres. Obama's response to this disaster is no better than Pres. Bush's response to Katrina.
No real response until it's damn near (or is) TOO LATE. No gearing up. No questions. Reliance on the reassurances of the oil company that screwed it all up -- and has a history of screwing up, at the cost of workers lives.
This President seems to believe everything the CEO's and Wall Street fatcats tell him. It seems independent experts (unless they have jobs as lobbyists) need not apply.
Does any of this crap explain why so many older folks are so upset, why there is so much diffuse rage out here. Twist it the way you want -- and you have all sorts of "Tea Party" crap.
It is time to listen to The People. It is time to respond to some of the real needs out there -- and tell folks you are doing it.
