The Republicans do not care about the current version of "America". They want to destroy it so they can "build" THEIR version of "America", a version that has never existed, but one they claim we "lost" due to excessive "license", due to too many "entitlements" (who developed that little misnomer), and a "welfare state" that saps the strength of once strong, proud "Americans".
Heck, David (the total elitist) Brooks says the best thing we POOR old folks can do is DIE. Cut down costs, you know.
Add to that the folks who claim the NEW "Middle Class" consists of folks earning $250,000 per year and up, and you see why neither the "New Democrats" nor the "Same Old Republicans" represent the bulk of the citizens of The United States Of America.
If you listen you will never hear anyone describe themselves as "working class". Everyone claims to be "middle class" -- at least until they lose their house.
It's as if "working class" has gone from being "the salt of the earth", to some sort of lazy slobs who are solely to blame for their current condition. Lazy slugs who do not deserve to be seen as "real Americans".
At times I wonder what those "Tea Party" folks were thinking, and what they are thinking now.
It's as if they also do not care if America collapses -- perhaps they think THEY would actually be better off -- though I think they over rate their survival skills.
Time after time I've read articles by different "progressive" economists who say our politics are insane. Some are actually saying the Republican Party is willing to allow the USA to default so THEY MIGHT win the next election.
The Republicans who also take an oath to obey The Constitution seem more willing to fulfill their oath to Grover Norquist before either The Constitution or the needs of their constituents. That's not representative government -- it smacks more of government bought by, and for, the WEALTHY
That's TOTALLY insane.
Perhaps it's time for some STRIKES, some new political alignments, some new people to run for damn near EVERY office.
No more marches. No more demonstrations. New parties, new candidates, new platforms.
Aren't you tired of "socialism for the rich", and "capitalism for the poor"?
